Amblyopia

Amblyopia is of particular interest for children.  It is sometimes called "lazy eye".

Dr. Cereesa Longest

Amblyopia is really reduced vision from lack of use from an otherwise normal eye.  It happens when the eyes do not work together to develop the normal vision that fuses the image from each eye into  a single image for the brain. This is a very important topic because it affects more than 2% of our children.

Dr. Cereesa Longest is a board-certified pediatric ophthalmologist who practices at Mercy Hospital and Michael Reese Hospital. She is also on staff at the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago.  She completed her ophthalmology training in New York and at the University of Illinois.  She also has a strong desire to increase public awareness of amblyopia in children.
