Eye Screening to Prevent Blindness — ADA and ISPB

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the ISPB co-sponsored free dilated eye screenings for people with diabetes in recognition of American Diabetes Month (November). Both organizations hope this will be an ongoing effort.

According to the ADA, nearly 16 million Americans have diabetes, a serious life-threatening disease for which there is no cure. People with diabetes have a higher risk for heart attacks, strokes, kidney failure, and blindness. The more carefully people with diabetes manage the disease, the more likely they are to reduce their risk for other serious health problems.

Please schedule a yearly dilated eye exam to detect diabetic eye diseases — diabetic retinopathy (the leading cause of blindness in American adults), cataracts and glaucoma.
