Chicago Ophthalmological Society — Conference 2001 ISPB LECTURESHIP AWARDThe Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness was honored to present the 14th ISPB Lecturer Award to Henry D. Jampel, M.D., M.H.S. at the Chicago Ophthalmological Society’s 53rd Annual Clinical Conference, Chicago, May 24-25, 2001.
Dr. Jampel’s ISPB presentation was entitled “Sight Threatening Complications of Glaucoma Surgery.” He also took part in several other symposiums throughout the conference regarding glaucoma and cataract. A summa cum laude graduate of Harvard College, Dr. Jampel received his M.D. degree from Yale University School of Medicine and a M.H.S. degree in Health He also holds a Masters Degree of Health Science in Health Finance and Management from Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health. He is the Principal Investigator of two studies at the National Eye Institute: Collaborative Initial Glaucoma Treatment Study (1993-2003) and Glaucoma Surgical Outcomes Study (2000-2002). Dr. Jampel is currently Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Ophthalmological Institute, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore. He is also Administrative Editor of Practical Reviews in Ophthalmology. The Visionary , published as a service of the Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness,is available upon request.
