LOW VISION IDEAS FOR YOUR HOME:

  1. Check with local utility company for large-print thermostat attachments.
  2. Replace wall socket covers and light-switch covers with ones that contrast in color to the wall.
  3. Use a contrasting color toilet seat cover so it is obvious whether the lid is up or down.
  4. Use clear containers for condiments of salt and pepper.
  5. Change an opaque or solid colored shower curtain with a clear plastic one to allow more light into the shower area.
  6. Use a lighted magnifying mirror for applying cosmetics or for face shaving.
  7. Use a large print or large Braille-marked calendar in you kitchen, den or family room to keep track of activities, doctor appointments, meetings.
  8. Hang a small color contrasting hook near the kitchen sink to hold rings, watches or other jewelry while washing, cleaning or cooking.
