ISPB LECTURESHIPS FOR 2002 Chicago Ophthalmological Society D uring the Chicago Ophthalmological Society’s 54th Annual Clinical Conference, held in Chicago, May 23-24, 2002, Jim McKechnie presented the ISPB 15th Lecturer Award to Robert E. Morris, M.D., a practicing ophthalmologist, specializing in retinal diseases and ocular traumatology at Birmingham, Ala.Dr. Morris’ ISPB presentation was entitled “Ocular Trauma Today.” He also made two presentations in other symposiums entitled “Vitrectomy for Endophthalmitis and “The Tractional Maculopathies.” Dr. Morris is president of Retina Specialists of Alabama, LLC, the Helen Keller Foundation for Research and Education, the International Society of Ocular Trauma and the Vitreoretinal Development Corporation. He serves on the board of directors of the United States Eye Injury Registry, the board of trustees of the Alabama Eye Institute and the editorial board of Vitreoretinal Surgery and Technology. The Award is made possible by an ISPB grant to the COS.
Illinois Optometric Association T he ISPB was pleased to present the Distinguished Lecturer Series Award to Anthony Litwak, O.D., at the IOA 2002 Convention at Springfield, Ill., September 26-29, 2002.Dr. Litwak, a well-known national and international speaker on ocular disease, gave a course on Glaucoma and Macular Degeneration Interactive Grand Rounds, which presented a diversity of case presentations. Topics included new medications, laser procedures in glaucoma treatment and the latest information on the AREDS and photodynamic therapy (PDT) in the management of macular degeneration. Dr. Litwak is an Adjunct Clinical Professor at Pennsylvania College of Optometry, State University of New York, Pacific University College of Optometry and New England College of Optometry. He also serves as Program Director, Ocular Therapeutics in Cancun. The Award is made possible by an ISPB grant to the IOA.
