The Vocational Eye Safety Program is a slide/video presentation including information and demonstrations on eye safety presented by the ISPB Vocational Educator or our video. Created by the Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness this program is ideal for various school settings. According to the State Board of Education, more than 25% of all school related eye injuries nationally occur in the 10th to 12th grade shop and laboratory classes. Fortunately ninety percent of eye injuries are preventable. However, eye safety remains an attitude that must be learned through constant reinforcement.

Program Objectives:

  1. To increase students ability to recognize eye hazards
  2. To increase students appreciation of eye sight
  3. To increase the practice of wearing proper protection
  4. To prevent accidental eye injuries

This program is part of the public education program of the Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness and is offered free of charge to all high schools and vocational schools in the State of Illinois.
